Every year we engage over 1,200 volunteers including photographers, office volunteers, sponsor volunteers to community volunteers. Many of our volunteers have expressed an interest in learning a thing or two about construction tools and power tools. On October 9th, we will be hosting a Tool Time workshop where volunteers will be given the opportunity to learn more about construction power and hand tools used on both our projects and around our homes.

Have you ever used a circular saw? Do you know what a sawzall is and what it’s used for? Do you have Do It Yourself (DIY) projects but you don’t know how to DIY?

If you’re like me, you have fallen victim to the DIY movement and to be frank; For me, Rebuilding Together is the one to blame. Let me explain! It all started during Martin Luther King Jr. workweek in Pittsburgh, PA where all CapacityCorps members worked together building stairs, installing kitchen cabinets, cutting and staining lumber, and caulking. All tasks I had never done before. Then came Rebuilding Day where I lead a group of 60 volunteers in painting the exterior of Glenridge Cooperative Nursery School. If you think about it, volunteering with RTSF is the perfect reason to learn how to DIY!

Please join us for Tool Time! Our dedicated volunteer Paul Gray will teach you how to use different construction tools including drills, orbital sander, belt sander, different saws, grinder, cordless screw gun, levels, safety practices and more!

Date: Tue. October 9th

Time: 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm

Location: Pier 28, the Embarcadero

Please RSVP! Space is limited to 20 volunteers.
