Reason 5 to Twive: Bayview Beacon at Burton High School

 

Reason 5 to Twive: Bayview Beacon after-school program at Burton High School mission is to give youth and their families the tools they need to live productive and successful lives. The Bayview Beacon after-school program helps 600 freshmen to seniors per year.

Students of Burton High School have described the Beacon Center as ‘grimy’ and in need of a fresh coat of paint. Staff is hoping for the teen center to look less like a grammar school classroom and more like an approachable and inviting room for high school students and adults. With a more inviting environment for students, the Beacon would like to encourage students to stay off the streets and engage socially and academically. The Bayview Beacon Center would like for the following rooms to be ugraded: Teen Center, Beacon office, administrative office, parent resource room, boxing/break dance room and the DJ room.
